Let’s talk user experience
Anna Bremer and Luca Brand share exciting news on user experience improvements of our marketplace. We’re here to talk better user experience for the hystrix marketplace, because I know they were involved in our latest innovation project. Together with the students from the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil, they worked on the second version of the hystrix marketplace. And it’s due to launch soon!
E.B Can you tell me what your role was in the project?
L.B As the link between hystrix (client) and the HSR students (contractor) I was responsible for communication, implementation, and development of the project. This allowed me to make a significant contribution to both the design and the planning.
A.B As a graphic designer, my role in the project was to connect the ideas of the hystrix team with the needs of the clients and transform that into a clear, useful, and attractive interface. I think it’s of the utmost importance to always keep in mind what our clients really want and need.
E.B So it all comes down to our customer’s needs. Why is this so important?
A.B Well yes, our customer experience is key to the development of our marketplace, because that is how we integrate our clients’ real needs. They’re the focus of our effort and we want them to have the best experience possible when interacting with our marketplace. We use user experience processes and guidelines in order to create a friendly interface and to improve our marketplace in the best interest of the user.
We take this very seriously because with our marketplace we’re not only promoting a better interaction between healthcare providers and suppliers. We also want to unburden healthcare professionals from repetitive tasks and give them more time to focus on more strategic tasks.
E.B How does great user experience look like for a marketplace like hystrix medical?
A.B In our case this means that our users can easily search and find the products they want, analyze and compare prices, and finally get to contract.
L.B The digitalization of the existing sales and procurement process is basically new for the users. A good user journey is therefore highly important for the acceptance of this new way of selling and procuring. But every change has a beginning and we are convinced it’s worth it for all engaged parties.
A.B Since having a transparent interface is very important for us, being able to compare prices and specifications is critical. So, showing as much relevant information as possible, in a friendly and non-confusing way is, in my view, one of our biggest challenges.
L.B That’s right. The hystrix medical marketplace is not a simple website, but a complex tool with many features. It cannot be compared to a webshop, because it integrates a multitude of functionalities that makes the complex B2B procurement and sales process in the Medtech sector digitally possible in the first place. With such complexity, maintaining simplicity and user-friendliness is a task that is not easily mastered and takes a lot of time. But we are confident and happy to take on this challenge because new paths are only created by walking them.
